I love winter time especially when everything is covered in snow. I live in the South so I don’t get to see much snow. We decided to go on vacation we don’t even care where it is as long as it has lots of snow and great hot tubs. I started doing research online to find a place we would all enjoy and I ran across Gatlinburg, Tennessee. So last year was our first vacation there and it was gorgeous. Everyone had an amazing time.

I recommend looking on the internet to find a great place to vacation. You may be surprised when you see how many deals you can find for vacations. There are a lot of different vacation packages that you can usually find that will cover food, travel, and accommodations. You will want to know what type of accommodations you want before you start booking. Different places have different things to choose from like condos, cabins, hotels, chalets. It will depend on where you are vacationing as to which types they have.

When we went to Tennessee on vacation we stayed in a cabin and it was great. At night we all put our sleepwear on and sat around in front of the fireplace. We just sat there and talked for hours. This was definitely my favorite part of the vacation. If you decide to vacation somewhere a little warmer you wont need a fire place. Even though it does make for a warm family moment.

We our kids feel asleep by the fire we covered them over with blankets to keep them warm. Then me and my wife climbed on the sofa to snuggle together as we read our suspense books. I like reading suspense with a little action mixed in but my wife prefers to read a little suspense with a lot of romance mixed in. The point is the trip brought us back to each other, we became a family again even if it didn’t last.

If you are the parents of teens or grown kids then you already know that they prefer to go off with friends and just hang with them. When you hardly ever see your kids anymore it is time to take a family vacation. It will bring your family together once again but it may not last after the vacation. Having any time with the kids is great.

After choosing a destination and booking the accommodations there is still one more thing you will want to do. Take a little time to do research to find activities for the whole family. We all wanted to ski but we needed to learn first, so I found a website online and found a ski instructor that was willing to teach us all.

No matter what equipment you need for your activity they will probably have a place you could buy it there. We ended up buying every person their very own ski helmet that way they can take it back home with them sort of like a souvenir. We did however have to rent the other equipment. Trust me on this it should not matter what you do or where you go because as long as your with family that is all that matters.

The tranquil island of Lanzarote is an ideal location for a relaxing holiday. As the ambience here is even more laid back than on the Spanish mainland, whilst the sun shines all year long.

Lanzarote is one of the Canary Islands, which are Spanish owned but which boast their own cultural identity. And remains a very peaceful holiday destination despite the fact that the island is very small and receives over 1.3 million foreign visitors a year. Most of them flying in from cold countries in Northern Europe such as Germany and Eire, which are a four hour journey away.

One of the best ways to enjoy a really relaxing break is to book one of the many Lanzarote holiday villas that are available to tourists. As this offers total privacy without the encumbrance of dealing with other guests or eating at times dictated by other people. There are thousands of these privately owed rental properties located across the island and prices are surprisingly reasonable, especially outside the peak holiday seasons.

One of the best ways to chill out on the island is to head for one of Lanzarote’s wonderful, wild beaches. Such as Famara, which lies well off the beaten track away from the main resorts. Or Caleton Blanco, which is located at the northern tip of Lanzarote close to the village of Orzola. Which is where tourists can also catch the ferry to the neighbouring island of La Graciosa.

Many visitors fall in love with the island – and end up investing in the Lanzarote property market. Buying a villa or apartment which they can rent out to other tourists whilst also using it as an occasional holiday home. Villas in Playa Blanca are especially popular for this purpose. As this is the fastest growing resort on the island and enjoys the best weather. Making it a popular choice for tourists all year round.

A large portion of visitors prefer to stay in one of the 200 plus Lanzarote hotels that are located across the island. With the best value establishments again found at the southern end of the island in Playa Blanca.

Visitors to this unique island are advised to hire a car and explore key sights such as the volcanic region and the green lagoon at El Golfo. As well as natural beauty spots such as the Valley of 1000 Palms, located in the north of Lanzarote.

My name is James, and it’s been quite a while since I had been on a plane. More than 10 years ago was the last time I fainted when flying. Now I didn’t feel as though I had a fear of flying, I have never really been scared about the prospect of flying, I just passed out. Going back on to a plane was very low on my priority list, and decided to stay at home for holidays in future, may sound sad, but obviously it wasn’t in the house. About 2 years into my marriage, it was time to face my fears and get on a plane, all that way to Egypt, a massive mission!

Just remembering how little I did actually remember of flying was scary enough… When i came back from my previous holiday I passed out on my way back as well, so I haven’t actually experienced flying yet! So there was the plane, choices had to be made, and the choice to turn around and run wasn’t there. So I sat down, and nothing seemed to happen, my heart wasn’t racing and everything seemed fine, I could see straight as well. Even after the four massive engines under the wings started going and we approached the run way i was fine!

This was all strange, I couldn’t understand why I passed out the previous time, and before I knew it, we were in the air. I had finally reached that stage where I could start to be excited about my holiday. I was eager to get back on the plane and get flying again. Everything just couldn’t stay going all smooth could it! The Captain in a loud but confident voice, boomed that we were going to be hitting some turbulence. Things got really bad, the plane felt as though it was going to crack up in the sky, and there was even a light storm brewing outside. Then It was over, as quick as it had started it had finished. I remember thinking to myself, why don’t you faint now you plonker!

Egypt holidays Didn’t actually appeal to me that much, and i never went back, next up was a decision between Maldives holidays or Sri Lanka holidays, both involve a aeroplane!

There are plenty of good reasons to book a holiday in Mallorca. As this beautiful Balearic Island boasts great beaches, a wonderful Mediterranean climate, stunning pine clad mountain scenery and a whole host of things to do and see. Making it an ideal destination – and one of the most visited islands in the world. Welcoming millions of tourists every year.

Unlike say the Canary Islands the season on Mallorca doesn’t run all year round but from May through until September. As a result services such as car hire can appear relatively expensive. Whilst it costs much more to book holiday villas in Mallorca during the summer months than it does on other Spanish islands.

Mallorca is the biggest of the four Balearic Islands and is home to around 700,000 people. A population which is greatly swelled during the summer months. And the island is nominally divided into two halves. With the south still shaking off the package holiday image created in the 80´s by boozy Brits in resorts such as Magaluf. Whilst the north is regarded as a little more upmarket. With towns such as Pollensa and Alcudia attracting families and well heeled elder guests.

Palma is the island capital and is home to the islands most impressive feat of architecture, Palma Cathedral. Which was built on the site of a former mosque by the Christian liberators. Symbolising the final expulsion of the Moors from Europe in the 13th century.

There are around 20 resorts to choose from around the island. Each boasting its own chararcter. Puerto Pollensa is located on Mallorca’s north coast around a one and half hours transfer from the islands sole international airport at Palma. And is essentially the coastal sister resort to the former Roman settlement of Pollensa, which is located around 8km inland.

The resort is very popular with British tourists – many of whom book their own holiday villas in Puerto Pollensa direct online. And boasts a good choice of bars and restaurants too.

Just along the north coast lies Alcudia – home to the biggest beach on the island. Which is about 9km long and which acts as a magnet for holidaymakers of all nationalities. Proving especially popular with families.

Whilst for those in search of more nightlife Magaluf in the south is still party central and whilst not the Club 18-30 mecca of days gone by it still boasts plenty of lively bars and clubs.

The Canary Islands are the closest winter sun destination to the UK. At just four hours flying time. And are also very accessible financially – as unlike more exotic destinations in the Caribbean or the Middle East you don’t have to enjoy an investment bankers salary to book a holiday here.

Each of these seven islands are different. Head for Tenerife and Gran Canaria for the more traditional type of bucket and spade holiday. Or La Palmas or El Hierro for nature walks and rambles.

Lanzarote is an ideal choice though for anyone who likes to soak up both the sun and the sights. As the island boasts a huge amount of things to do and see. Whilst also providing plenty of excellent accommodation.

There are three main resorts on Lanzarote – but Puerto del Carmen is the oldest and the most popular. The core of its appeal is apparent as soon as you step onto the beautiful main beach of Playa Grande. Which was actually created with sand imported from the Sahara during the 1970´s. But remains a stunning beach nonetheless.

Tourism first started out here in the Old Town – which is located around the harbour area. From where various day trips and excursions embark. This is also where visitors will find the best selection of villas in Puerto del Carmen in and around the Risco Prieto and Los Mojones areas.

The New Town is better suited to anyone seeking apartments in Lanzarote. As there are hundreds of complexes here all offering good value budget accommodation. With prices starting from around £180 a week for a studio on a centrally located complex.

There are also two hotels in Puerto del Carmen for those who would prefer someone else to do the catering. Both enjoy four status and enviable seafront, locations and offer rooms starting from around €80 per night. One, the Los Fariones Hotel is much more central and also boasts its own beach.

Puerto del Carmen is the nightlife capital of Lanzarote and there are hundreds of restaurants here for visitors to choose from. Along with plenty of bars and nightclubs – such as Cesars, 928 and recent newcomer The Bank.

Children are also well catered for too as there is an excellent zoo at the Rancho Texas theme park on the outskirts of the town whilst they can also enjoy riding camels and donkeys at nearby Lanzarote A Caballo.

So you’ve been dreaming of that white Christmas, the one where your wonderland is covered in snow….. Or have you? It would seem that lately people are more interested in the warmth that Christmas brings, not just to our hearts (Ahhh) but also to our bodies.

Many have waved goodbye to the cold and winter like freshness of Christmas and ushered in a new holiday, a warm one in the Caribbean. When Christmas comes into our lives, the holidays district goes mad with offers and last minute deals. And this year it would appear that you, the tourists want to go on these holidays. Christmas holiday sales are already up this year, and many of you are looking for locations like St Lucia or Barbados.

When you consider where these holidays are, the prices all around are very good. The competition is out there and tour operators are doing what they can to bring prices down and offer us the best deals, to try and entice us into the Christmas holidays they have available. So why have these holidays become so popular, and why are we trying to snap them up as quickly as possible.

The whole world is warming up, and not many people like the snow anyway. Snow can be great for some fun times, but not for the warmth. As for how Christmas should be spent now, people just want that nice sandy warm beach and warm weather. Nowadays the best thing that you can do for your family, is to take them on holiday. Not many people will complain, and its easier to arrange than a Christmas at home.

So what are you doing this Christmas, maybe instead of Caribbean holidays, you could try Maldives holidays or Dubai holidays, they are still just as warm, and not too mention just as luxurious.

England vacations appear to be incredibly popular at the moment, most probably due to the economic downturn and the low value of the pound. The United Kingdom has a large number of top class vacation destinations including London (the capital city of England) and other interesting cities plus a collection of seaside resorts such as; Blackpool, Weston-super-Mare, Bognor Regis and Torquay. One vacation resort often overlooked is Plymouth in the south of England.

When you first arrive Plymouth appears rather bland and modern, but searching a little bit deeper and you will soon find that the city of Plymouth has a rich history and a deep association with the sea. As far back as the fifteen hundreds there has been a port in Plymouth. In 1588 Francis Drake embarked from the town’s port to successfully defend England from the Spanish Armada. Another historic moment occurred in sixteen twenty when the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for North America.

It is possible to take low cost vacations in Plymouth by booking bed and breakfast in Plymouth rather than booking a overpriced hotel. A quick look online will show that you can make a reservation from £29 a night and many places have dinners at a very reasonable cost, commonly equal to, or less expensive than local restaurants.

Things To See And Do In Plymouth

There are many interesting places in Plymouth that are well worth visiting. Popular visitor attractions include; Merchant’s House Museum, St Andrew’s church, the National Marine Aquarium and the Mayflower Steps. A boat cruise around the waters of the port is an excellent way to spend some time but if you discover that you have more time to spare why not take a trip to places close by Plymouth, such as; Mount Edgcumbe, Buckland Abbey or Saltram House.

Saltram House is a pretty Tudor Mansion which is found 2 miles from the town of Plymouth, Mount Edgcumbe is a further Tudor house with landscaped gardens, parklands and coastal paths, and Buckland Abbey, roughly 6 miles in distance from Plymouth, is a Cistercian abbey which was once owned by Francis Drake and was later converted into a family home.

If you and your family are currently deciding upon spending a few days in the city of Plymouth it is crucial that you book your lodgings at your first opportunity as, unfortunately hotels and guest houses in Plymouth tend to be alarmingly busy and are frequently fully booked months in advance. If you are travelling in a group you might find that apartments in Plymouth prove to be cheaper option to Plymouth bed & breakfast. If you are visiting Great Britain from abroad then why not consider making a reservation for a room in London hotels to take in the sights of the nations capital also.

There are a number of different resort options for anyone planning a trip to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. Each boasting its own unique identity and attractions. As well as differing accommodation options.

Puerto del Carmen
Puerto del Carmen is the oldest resort on Lanzarote. As tourism first started to really take off here in the late 1960´s. Just as General Franco started to open Spain up to foreign visitors in order to boost the countries economy.

As a result the resort is largely dominated by old style apartment complexes, offering cheap and cheerful accommodation. Although there are still a number of holiday villas in Puerto del Carmen well worthy of renting. Especially in areas such as Risco Prieto and Los Mojones which are located close to the harbour in the Old Town area.

Playa Blanca
Playa Blanca is the newest resort on the island and is located right at the southern tip. Just across the Bocaina Straits from neighbouring Fuerteventura. This provides a dramatic backdrop come night-time – as well as a great excursion option by day for anyone enjoying a holiday in Playa Blanca. Whilst the resort also boasts the biggest selection of hotels and villas in Lanzarote.

Costa Teguise
Costa Teguise was initially conceived as the island’s upmarket resort during the 1980´s. Attracting moneyed visitors from countries such as Germany and Scandinavia. And is home to the finest hotel on the island in the form of the Gran Melia Salinas.

Today it has faded somewhat in popularity and is the poor relation to Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise. Despite still boasting plenty of charm and excellent beaches. Weather is the resorts real downfall though – as it is located in the north of the island and can enjoy worse conditions than the southern destinations during the winter months.

Puerto Calero
The upmarket marina of Puerto Calero has started to evolve as Lanzarote´s unofficial fourth resorts. There are two hotels located close to the marina – the Hesperia and the Costa Calero. Both of which are located within just a five-minute stroll of the bars shops and restaurants here.

Lanzarote has also started to attract a growing number of tourists keen to book rural accommodation. And there are now a number of hotels and fincas catering to this market. Offering plush accommodation in Lanzarote’s unique volcanic countryside. Amongst the best know of these are the Finca de Arrieta – which recently featured in a Sunday Times article about eco friendly accommodation on the island.

If you want a stunning location in Canada, Yukon is a great place to start. Yukon received it’s name from the famous Yukon River, this name actually means Great River. Yukon is famous for many different reasons, but the one thing it is known world-wide for is the Klondike Gold Rush. Canadian holidays have benefited in a massive way thanks to Yukon’s diverse history and activities.

The Klondike Gold Rush really kicked off in the 19th century. It then became apparent that rumours were flying about that Gold could be found down the Klondike highway and in nearby rivers. Quite literally a rush, people from all over the world came to Klondike to find gold. Just because of the fact, that the amount of people in search of gold was so high, the area needed a police force set up in 1897 to bring order to the region.

The NWMP or the North West Mountain Police was created to help bring order to the Gold Rush situation. The “Mounties” as they were better known, were set up and led by a man called Constantine who was employed by the Canadian government to take care of Yukon’s Gold Rush proceedings. The Mounties were responsible for many different duties including being personal guard to the Monarch. Although they were successful at keeping the peace they did allow some illegal activities to continue such as gambling and prostitution.

Today the Mounties are still a well established force and respected throughout Canada, they are very much a large piece of Canada’s history. The Mounties motto was “We always catch our man”, because they were known to be adept at catching criminals.

Yukon’s tourism is one of its biggest money spinners and has 100’s of activities ranging from canoeing and kayaking, to skiing and snowboarding. So go to Yukon and see if you can find some gold, there is a fantastic Alaska cruise that travels from Yukon through Alaska.

Blackpool is a seaside resort situated on the North West coast of England, which remains immensely popular with tourists from the close by towns and cities which include Warrington, Liverpool, Warrington and more. The town is also surprisingly popular with the Scottish who turn up in large groups rather like the hordes of factory workers of the past on their company vacation. Sometimes it seems that the seaside town is nothing but hotel accommodation and tourist attractions and although there is an incredibly amount of Blackpool bed & breakfasts it is advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Guest houses varies from the cheap and chearful to five star class. Many are situated on the sea front alternatively, if you would rather stay somewhere more relaxing there are a few in the suburbs.

Blackpool began to see its first visitors in the 18th century who had visited to indulge in the new practice of sea bathing. With the arrival of the railways, from 1846, Blackpool saw increasing numbers of visitors to”take the cure”. Nowadays you can travel to Blackpool by road, rail or aeroplane arriving there much faster than the early Victorian visitors who would take up to 2 days from Manchester.

The Famous Blackpool Pleasure Beach

The most popular attraction in the town, in Lancashire in the north west of England, which brings in roughly seven million visitors every twelve months, is Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Blackpool’s Pleasure Beach is a static funfair with fear inducing big rides, for example Valhalla, Grand National, Ice Blast, the Pepsi Max Big One, Zipper Dipper and Wild Mouse, and including many more sideshows, food booths, children’s rides, thrill rides, sidestalls and games. The most recently added big ride is Infusion, the first ride in the world to be a suspended looping coaster entirely over water.

A useful tip: If you are traveling as a group or family it is possible to save a substantial amount of cash by purchasing a wristband for unlimited rides especially if you will be going on as many rides as you can handle as the individual cost of each ride soon amounts to serious cash.

Getting There And Accommodation

Blackpool is, as said earlier, very easy to get to nowadays as you are able to travel there by air, automobile or railway. If arriving by train you will, most probably, be arriving at Blackpool’s main rail station, which is Blackpool North found on Talbot Road. Just a short distance down the road is situated Blackpool’s main coach station, the Blackpool National Express Coach Station. The other railway station, Blackpool South, is at Waterloo Road, South Promenade. Blackpool’s airport is found approximately two miles south of the centre of town and was known as, Blackpool Squires Gate Airport, one of the oldest British airports.

Blackpool bed & breakfast accommodation is priced fairly low. Accommodation is far less expensive in the off season and a little more expensive at weekends. Blackpool hotels are at their most costly during the Blackpool Illuminations, which is really Blackpool’s peak season.

A useful tip: Some hotels can be busy and noisy especially those close to North and Central Pier. If you require at a place which is not so busy try booking somewhere past the North Pier.
