Don’t bring more than a couple of pairs of jeans and a few tops, you can always do laundry while you’re there. One extra pair of shoes is fine – one pair for walking and one dressier pair if you plan to do anything fancy. Don’t bring jackets or raincoats or umbrellas, you can buy all that there if you need it. In fact, you can buy a ton of stuff while you’re there so really just pack your toothbrush, some clothes, toothpaste, a comb, basic makeup if you wear any – basically just the stuff you’d need while on the flight. And then when you get to your destination go to the store and buy the larger bottles of hair gel or whatever else you’ll need. The lighter you travel the easier this trip will be, trust me on that one.

    Have fun!

On my last trip I decided to travel light so I start checking the materials of my clothes. Jeans are too bulky and take lots of space, but you can try other materials such as good polyester pants, I got very nice ones designed for hiking in REI but you can get them in outdoorsy stores, I also got cotton ones from the Converse brand and they pack nice and compact. Three of these pants occupy the space of a pair of jeans! And since you are going in summer there is no need to pack thick bulky clothing. Other tip is to use the bags that you can remove air from (space bag savers) not the vacuum ones but the ones that look like a big ziplock with a special portion that lets the air out but not come again. With this you are going to have even more space in your luggage that you can later use to bring souvenirs. This bags are particularly good to segregate dirty clothes from clean ones.
