Best city to visit in USA apart from NY where you don’t have to drive

Any ideas for nice weekend breaks away in the UK?

My baby is due in late June 2007 but I would like to for me my partner to take a nice weekend break away round about April time. Can anyone suggest anywhere that’s really nice to visit for the weeknd in the UK. Low cost weekends away would be ideal. I would really love to stay in a cottage with open fires that’s away from all the hustle bustle of every day life. Maybe somewhere a little bit romantic also. Anywhere really nice in the UK really that’s reasonably priced. Can anyone reccomend anywhere?
