fiona m asked:
BBC it does not effect me one way or the other, I live abroad I have not watched TV at all since I arrived. I do not miss it at all
I do not have to pay a licence fee. I cant stand any kind of sport and would never subscribe to sky. If I ever return to England I don't think I would have another TV, I also dont drive, smoke or drink not many people make much money out of me? But truly now I think the TV licence should be scrapped.
I do not go to the movies well once in a bluemoon, last time 4 years ago. It was because my friend bought the dinner before we went. I am not tight with my money but a pair of monolos or a handbag are more to my taste, If you add up the money you spend on things that dont really matter. The last time I was in England I was buying a travel card each week at £15 pw I thought that is £60 per month, after two months I could go to Paris for the weekend. So shanks pony from now on when in Britain. (that means walk).what do you think?

agree, it should be scrapped
Wow you must lead a boring existence scrooge, what you gonna do with all that money you saved when your dead.
rip of britain you said it shame the people who vote labour can,t see it
I think that question is one of the most jumbled up I have ever read.
I dont really see a point to it however if you are asking me to agree that the overpriced Manolo shoes you buy are more worthwihile than the other things you list I would have to disagree.
In the great scheme of things your preferred taste is for things that are at the top end of the 'overpriced' scale (and how will you take shanks pony without wearing out your Manolo's?)
Even though I agree with your observations for the most part about TV and movies really stinking, was there an actual question in there?
Agreed....for saying licence fee is supposed to be for BBC..now that we have freeview etc and so many channels, they should be able to let us opt out of having BBC channels and pay no licence fee.
England is a very expensive place to live. There are 60 million people living in England. Why is it so popular? Not able to answer this. Unfortunately- it's a case of supply and demand. If we did away with the license fee- the BBC would likely be one of the richest channels on earth. It is an old English idea of a non-profit business that allows creativity and objectivity- I would pay the license as I like the channels BBC1 and BBC 2 and don't want to pay for channels that rely on advertising.
If you don't want a TV- great- you won't need a license.
fine, so you changed your life, all that to save a few pennys
You are so strange......sorry.
There is nothing wrong with enjoying yourself. Lighten up.
It's of no consequence to you, you don't live here and if you come back aren't going to have a TV - so why are you even interested? You are correct £15 per week is indeed £60 per month. Shanks' pony - you'll ruin your Monolos, if you have any. For most people travel cards do matter, it's how they get to work. Good luck finding a weekend in Paris for £60! I'm sure the hotel or youth hostel wouldn't be quite up my street.
I think if you don't like this country, don't come here! We know what we pay licence fee for,we may not agree with it but we have to pay it anyway.I think if you can afford Manolo shoes, then you should walk everywhere if only to show them off! Personally I would rather have a ciggie while I am driving to the boozer to have a few bevvies and watch football on Sky,buy myself a meal after and taxi home! Hope you are happy in Cave dwellers Land!
Reckon Life is too short to peel mushrooms. Enjoy your money in your own way, but ENJOY it. All too many people scrimp and save, then are too old or sick to enjoy their hard earned cash.
so whats your point ? people have to get to work would you expect some one to walk two hous to get to work because money on travel apparently doesnt really matter.what do you do with your time then? cant imajine its anything fun if ya dont part with any money on things that dont really matter as u put it . but i see you bought a computer and waste your time on here like the rest of us
in britain we have taxes and licenses for just about everything, it wont be too long before we pay a tax for the co2 we exhale, in the guise of polluting the environment for every breath we exhale.!!!!!
