TB asked:
I live in the UK and would love to have a quick weekend break. Any suggestions appreciated.
To elaborate more we would want to stay in a hotel and there would have to be plenty of places to visit and shops.

Amsterdam is absolutely great but the hotels can be dear so shop around a bit..
Prague can be cheap.
I went to Dublin for a weekend and it was great.
Ostend
Sun sea sand etc. Good food, English bars and not too expensive.
Krakow in Poland.
You will love every minute of it, I promise!
Benidorm is absoulutley great for a short break, fantastic weather, lots of places to go (themepark, zoo’s, wildlife centers, water parks, boat trips) it is also great for shopping. ive been once alread and am returing next yea, it is also an extreamly cheap place to go flights and hotels are great, also I would recoment the Palm Beach hotel, as it has an indoor and outdoor pool as well as its own salon ect. It is a 4 star and very cheap.
go to Paris, Rome, Venice, Tuscany, Athens, Spain, London maybe…. or ******Germany****** i was in Germany last Summer it was awesome to go back to my birth city (Berlin), and while in Europe we went to Rome for the weekend. had a blast in Rome….great pizza, great attractions, and best of all a lot of HOT, HOT, HOT Italians………..LOL……………it was fun
I think it honestly depends on what you want to do and what you consider cheap. Someone mentioned Krakow, Poland. It’s wonderful there and you can visit Auschwitz and Birkenau for some WW II history. Croatia is also a pretty cheap place. It is also very beautiful with very nice beaches. I know Romania and Bulgaria are very up and coming and still quite cheap but I personally have never been. Don’t forge Slovenia!! I think for a good cheap vacation hit former Eastern Bloc countries, the price is right and the people are very friendly!
I would say Venice, you can get cheap flights and the hotels are very reasonable. Great for a long weekend and they have fantastic shops to nose around all day long.
