Holiday essentials for Morocco?

Hannah asked:

Hi people, we've booked a week long stay in morocco agadir and we are wondering what essentials we need, ie clothing, medication, injections? etc etc.
were not going till next may but I was wondering how long do u need to get injections? is it over a few sessions or just one injection?

Thanks
with regard to the clothing issue, will we have to cover up all the time? I.e on the beach? or just in the non tourist places? thanks
Are the men there really that bad? Getting worried now! Surely they cant all be stereotyped?

You certainly need injections for i think Yellow Fever and Hep B you may need others but when you book your holiday jabs with the doctor thay know what ones to give.

Have fun you lucky holiday makers.

hmm, when i went to morocco like 7 years ago, being a female i had to wear long sleeves, long pants, and pull my hairback...the girls with blonde hair were advised to try to keep it covered as well. so you might try to keep in mind to take some light weight long sleeve tunics or something like that. i was there in april, and it was HOT. it didnt really matter what the guys in our group wore, they all had shorts and tanks on.

plenty of money and a thick skin, these people think its o.k to molest women when shopping, i speak from experience, the sooner the western world drop a huge bomb on these people the better.

My Daughter was physically molesterd at a local market, these people don't know the meaning of the word restraint, there just a bunch of animals !!!!

Need proof? Ask my daughter, she will never go back !!!!

Unfortunatley this is typical throughout the Arab world

Dont mean to **** on ure parade but take care !!!

Abikini, sarong, sunglasses, hat, and flip flops, cuddly toy, the fittest blok you can find (definaly essential unless your bringing one back), and of cours....me.

As for injections, well whatever takes your fancy lol

  • Whatever!

They usually say to get your injections done a month before you fly, check at your doctors practice if the injections needed are free or have a fee.

Another great checklist is to make sure you have the bare essentials such as:
    Suncream
    Aftersun
    Insect Repellant
    Insect Bite Soother
A small travel first aid kit
    Travel plug

i would also do research on the hotel you plan to stay at, see if they have things like toweling, bedding, and a hairdryer.

Don't think you need injections but check with your GP. I would take paracetamol, Imodium, sun lotion, after sun cream, mozzi repelant and after bite. Also swim wear, shorts but something to cover up as its a Muslim country you don't want to offend anyone.

i spend a short holiday in morocco last march and i didn't need any injections. in fact, for european citizens there are no obligations to get any injections but often yellow fever and typhus are advised ... talk to your doctor to make sure, he knows you ...

if you are going this summer, you should get warm weather. if you plan on staying at the hotel swimming pool you will need swimming pool clothing ... but if your touring, take shorts and t-shirts and take something decent to go into town or visit villages - it's a matter of respect for morrocon culture.

try the local food: you'll love it!

    enjoy your stay!

LOL, ive been to Morocco twice. You dont need injections to go their because it is a tourist place. Many Europeans go to Morocco. It's not like your going to be in the jungle. Morocco has cities, shopping malls and beaches, Pizza Hut, McDonalds, KFC etc......

Morocco is a Muslim country but they are not strict on what women should wear. Mainly because like i wrote before many ppl visit their and there is alot of western influences. But i wouldnt wear booty shorts walking around. You would get alot of unwanted attention.

I havent been to Agadir but my husband who is Moroccan has. I would bring a bathing suit (because the majority of the coast of Morocco has beaches). sandals, confortable shoes, sun glasses,..... I would say a Arab to English or French to English dictionary but if you need directions or something if you ask someone young they know English.

    Hope this helps!!!!!!
No you DONT have to cover up.
Oh drink only bottled water because the tap is terrible.
To add on again: there are alot of beggers, even the children beg and watch your pockets in crowded areas.

The main thing is to be careful.
A lot of girls end up being molested.
Morocco is my least favourite place.
I find it to be a depressing place, and the constant begging in the streets is a major turn off.
    And thats just the tourists!
