Prague? Vienna?
What do you want to do, aside from the obvious?
Heard lots of good things about Prague.
If it was me I would choose Lisbon in Portugal. It is not very expensive, most of the locals speak English and there is something for everyone. From historical buildings to a great nightlife. Even a beach although it won't be that hot this time of year but you will be able to sit outside. Have a nice time.
Krakow, Poland.
Very romantic. Pretty cheap. Gorgeous place.
I love going to Lille France, it's a beautiful town and it's near the Eurostar station, has masses of great shopping streets/restaurants/sites to visit.
Barcelona- It's beautiful has great nightlife wonderful food!!!
or something completely different Croatia its fantastic the people are wicked!!
England. Stay in the yorkshire dales. Great place
rome is very nice and pretty this time of year. you and your b/f be careful watch your purse and he needs to watch hs wallet. we are stationed in germany and have been to just about every country possible since being here thre years ago. the people are nice and the city is clean. my favorite though by far has been greece.
have a look at Barcelona
I'd chose Barcelona. It's a gorgeous city, and there's plenty to do there - plus, is your boyfriend a football supporter?? We went to the stadium there, its amazing - and I'm not even a huge fan!!!
Otherwise my brother went to Prague with his girlfriend and loved it - he said its dirt cheap when your there too!!
Rome is hellish expensive. For a weekend I'd rather see Barcelona.
You should also consider Prague. Its a centralized city, all walking distance, and ideal for a weekend. You can visit the museums, art galleries, go up the hill to the castle and cathedral and Franz Kafka's home, watch puppet shows, and loads of quality stuff for shopping!! And its fairly cheap too.... and beautiful...
Rome is a popular city break. Prague or Amsterdam could be good.
Prague is fabulous and I went on my own and had no problems at all, Vienna is also very nice but pricey! Paris is fab too..Brussells very pretty, if you have a look on my 360 page you will see photo albums from all these places
Paris, Rome, Madrid, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Berlin, Krakow, Moscow, Prague, Budapest, Vienna...
Rome is amazing - good thing about it is there is so much to do, the colluseum, the vatican, all the ruins - there is almost too much to do in just a weekend (unless it was a long weekend!)
It was my favourite city, but then Paris is also pretty gosh darned special, especially if you like art. The art galleries are simply the best in the world, bar none. And the monmartre is so atmospheric (try to stay there if you go, it is gorgeous).
Barcelona is a fantastic vibrant city to go, again, with loads to do. All of Gaudi's fab architecture is so worth seeing, and the old part of barcelona is amazing to walk round.
Have a great time wherever you end up!
As an alternative you can visit Venice or Prague
Amsterdam definitely
Germany, Munich in particular. Lovely city, lots to do and see.
me and my Girl went to Amsterdam. We got absolutely out of it on anything and Everything. The next day we woke up on the floor of a Brothel with a bi 19 Year Old Blonde.I even have the Video.
Germany..........despite popular rumours you will find the people polite warm and friendly......if you like skiing reccomend Bavaria.Kempten, for socialising...Berlin..Hamburg..Hanover..Bremen...anywhere
Gent in Belgium,Good food,Nice people,History,and good nightlife.Enjoy.
Well I lived in Amsterdam and it's great, better if you know where to go out to eat, Prague is also a great place both are gonna be a bit chilly now but all the bars in Amsterdam have heaters outside so you can still sit out.
I also lived in Helsinki for a year and that's a great place, though drinking with your meal in a restuarant bumps up the price big style. That's a place to go in summer. Soumenlinna is worth a visit takes an hour to walk around has lots of museums and cafes, get there by public boat in 15min from the harbour.
I would go to Brugge in Belgium, not expensive to get there and wow, what a place. Loads of nice food and really friendly people.
The centre has like a moat around it and very romantic......
If you want it a bit warmer, Lisbon is nice as is Barcelona.
Don't know how much warmer this time of year though.
Enjoy where ever you pick
Though i'd only go to France if you can speak French, they have a bit of an attitude and say they don't speak English even though they speak it better than a lot of us....funny lot!
Ps...Hey Martin... a few above.....good on ya!
Rome is good but is incredibly expensive, as are most capitals. I would recommend the north and north-west of Italy. Verona is a romantic little city with good shops, cafes and was also the setting for Romeo and Juliet. Venice is good for a day trip, there are plently of nice little towns dotting the coast and if you venture inland there is really good wine country.
If you are going this time of year try Copenhagen for a good city break or I can highly recommend Interlaken in Switzerland.
either rome or milan. italy is amazing
If it is for you and your boyfriend I advise Venice. It is the most romantic city in the world with beautiful architecture and the fact that there are no cars so you have to walk or take the river bus (via boat) makes it the best place to go. It is a couples holiday and is pricey also it can smell in summer and flood in winter when you get there but it is amazing.
If you want somewhere that doesn't flood and is more busy try Paris which is also very romantic, sat out eating by the seine while someone is playing a violin on the bridge. however it will be cold at this time of year.
Amsterdam, Prague, Barcelona and Rome are all lovely cities but are better to go with a group of friends
Totally disagree and say Amsterdam. The people are so nice, its not too pricey and there is soooo much to do !!
I really can recommend it as I went there for a weekend once and keep on going back !!
ireland..need i say more
I would try Prague - great city, loads to do, the place has a great atmosphere you would associate with a country on the move. Cheap as well. Copenhagen is cool. Rome and Barcelona are too expensive and full of robbers. Germany is boring - too many rules and regulations and the people are snobby. France - need I say more.
if you don't want expensive, stay away from Swiss.German.Autrian towns. Why not try something in Spain? Barcelona? Madrid? I wouldn't do Rome for a weekend - too much to see, to noisy and too populated to do it all in a weekend. as someone else said, Prague is on the up (but i think too popular at the moment to be cheap), but i also here that Budapest is opening up and has some exquisite places to go to. Good luck, and enjoy it!
id say paris.calm, cool and cultural the three c's
Go to Cornwall / Devon. Fabulous coastlines, lots of romantic scenery. Quaint villages/ harbours. Lots of all year tourist visitor places. Small shops to browse around. Pace of life is much more leisurely.
You`ll fall in love with the whole area.
Try Austria, in particular Salzburg or Vienna. If you can go for longer there's a little place in the Tyrol called Westendorf, I love the place.
Brugge, Belgium, is nice this time of year
Cheltenham.
Barcelona. Its amazing
Zakopane, Poland. It's amazing small town in souther Poland in Tatra Mountains. you can see beautiful landscape. it's really cheap. you can go for a walk or go on the most important street in Zakopane-Krupówki, where is a ot of shops and you can buy traditional polish chees-Oscypek and many other things, souvenirs. I love Zakopane and i think that is good choise.
another city is Kraków in souther Poland. It's beautiful place and cheap. there are many actractions.
I generaly recommend Poland to you
kisses
Cardiff (Wales) people would be suprised how much it has changed it is a fantastic place now , and it is the fastest developing city in europe (FACT)
I'd recommend a weekend in Krakow (Poland). Beautiful city and lovely people.
I think the best place is IRELAND! Or you could go to Budapest.
ive been to belgeium its really romantic and we loved it.. loads to see n do...
You've got some good answers here.
You are lucky to get such a good turnout for your question.
The answer is simple:
BARCELONA.
I've spent the best part of the last 14 years around Europe, and the universal answer to the question which is the the best city to visit? is good old BCN.
Easy to get to, great to stay in, impossible to leave...
I'd love to say my home town of Blackburn, England, but I'd be lying. Dublin is nice, especially if there is either a rugby or soccer game on.
There are plenty of places in uk to see. But if you seen them all. Quite a few of my friends have been to Prague lately and think it is absolutely wonderful. If it was me a nice trip to the Highlands would be great.
For me it has to be Venice, the home of magic and Masquerade. Theres something amazingly atractive about a floating city.
Good luck and enjoy whatever you choose
A weekend is way too short. But I'd recommend Slovenia which is beautiful and very reasonable.
BELGIUM!!! im from there, and i LOVE it there
switzerland
If you don't mind the cold then Hamburg, Germany is the place to go. Nice people, nice food, nice beer.
I would recommend Paris. Visit the Tour Eiffel and elevate yourself to its third floor to appreciate its magnificence. Enjoy the crêpes and a lovely evening meal. Drink some vin de la Provence or a nice Côte du Rhône. Walk along Champs Elysses and visit all the different shops. Ride from end to end on their well designed metro.
Walk along the Seine and find Notre Dame. Let the Louvre inspire you or leave you in awe.
But above all, watch the sunset from the third floor of tour Eiffel.
Good Romance
